In 2018, the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bamboo Center was designed with the aim of promoting research, development, and innovation in the field of bamboo. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for conducting research on the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of bamboo. The UPM Bamboo Center serves as a hub for promoting sustainable bamboo industry development in Malaysia and beyond.
In 2019, our company proposed a bamboo industry development master plan to the Perak State government. The plan aims to leverage the state's existing bamboo resources and develop new plantations to meet the growing demand for bamboo products. The proposed plan includes strategies for promoting bamboo cultivation, harvesting, processing, and marketing, as well as for establishing a strong supply chain for bamboo products.
In 2020, our company submitted a proposal to the Sabah state government for the development of 10,000 acres of land in Paitan for bamboo plantation and a factory. The proposal aims to create a sustainable source of raw materials for the bamboo industry while providing job opportunities for the local population. The project also aims to promote the use of bamboo as an alternative to traditional building materials in the region.
In 2021, our company was awarded a contract by the Malaysia government to build the country's first bamboo nursery, equipped with a tissue culture lab capable of producing up to 1 million bamboo seedlings for distribution to farmers. The nursery will serve as a hub for promoting sustainable bamboo cultivation and industry development in Malaysia.
Our company is working closely with the Malaysia Timber Industries Board, a statutory body, to promote bamboo planting on idle village land. In phase one of the project, we aim to develop 10,000 acres of bamboo plantations across several clusters of villages. Our company will serve as the buyback unit for all the bamboo produce from the scheme, ensuring that farmers receive fair prices for their crops and promoting sustainable industry development in rural areas.
We had completed 18 Bamboo Parks so far including the Kunming Botanical Garden bamboo pavilion, some part of 'Da Dong Bamboo Sea project' and the 70 hectares of Bamboo Island project at Yibin City , with our China partner under the supervision of Professor Tan.
